No, I wouldn't hold my breath on that if I were you... but meanwhile,
here's a new bit of poetry-song for you to comment and critique on and
on... written last week with Conley and Woolfolk...
Light over the Ridge
I know exactly how you feel,
and God gave you permission to spill it.
There's no one to judge,
you're still so fine,
I'm just too crippled now to grudge it.
At this truck stop diner,
snapping in the rain...
You can't trust Carlo and colored Belle Elane,
I didn't send that instant message from Little Spain
The Lord makes haste,
we have little time,
not enough to waste it.
For this new era, in this rain
we sit on the bridge and watch the ridge
the townies think we're insane...
Last time I seen you at the bar,
it took my voice away.
Dina won't blow her horn no more,
she left with Jose anyway.
It ain't that bad to tell me your dreams,
they only mean what you want them to anyway.
Every breath you take on Van Allen Belt,
half a lifetime away...
At this truck stop diner,
soaking in the rain.
Operator wants another quarter,
she don't even know your name.
Words - Will Dockery
Music - Henry Conley and Gene Woolfolk
